What is your goal?
This is my last year of in-person school so I want to make a lasting change in the PhUS community. I want to make the necessary changes in the PhUS Constitution so that all students continue to have the sufficient resources to pursue academic/professional growth and development and hopefully begin the process of having backpacks for all PharmD students!!
What drew you to a career in pharmacy?
As cliché as this sounds, at a young age I knew I wanted to make a positive impact towards every individual I meet, whether that be big or small. As a pharmacist, there are so many opportunities to connect with new people and put a smile on their face!
What animal represents you and why?
A panda because my under eyes have only gotten darker from the lack of sleep and studying.

What animal represents you and why?
A cat because I am quiet on the outside but I am strong-minded on the inside
Sarah Kim
VP Academic · academic@ubcphus.org
What is your goal?
My goal as VP Academics this year is to break the stigma around mental health for students. I want to ensure that we, as students, have a learning environment that is safe and supportive by addressing our concerns through monthly Student Pipeline meetings and promoting student wellbeing with the Mental Health Task Force (MHTF).
What drew you to a career in pharmacy?
The fact that pharmacists are the most accessible healthcare professionals and that there’s more to it than counting pills. We can have a direct impact on people’s lives with our knowledge in medication.
What animal represents you and why?
Bunny and I’m not sure why 🐰

Arctic fox: their ability to adapt and problem solve (also they live in -30ºC weather and I’ve lived in -30ºC weather my whole life)
Sunny Qin
Sponsorship Coordinator · sponsorship@ubcphus.org
What is your goal?
This year, my goal for PHUS is to establish connections with various companies and arrange enjoyable events. Additionally, I hope to organize more lunch and learn sessions, not just for the free lunch 🙂 , but also to provide valuable learning experiences. It’s about enjoying a meal and gaining practical knowledge simultaneously!
What drew you to a career in pharmacy?
I’ve wanted to work in healthcare for as long as I can remember. As I got older, my interest gravitated more towards medications and patient focused care. Pharmacy stood out as a great choice because it allows me to connect with patients while also offering flexibility in my career path.
What animal represents you and why?
I would say the animal that best describes me is a panda. I love to hang out with friends and meet new people just as pandas enjoy hanging out with other pandas. But on the other hand, I also enjoy having my alone time similar to when pandas like to chill alone and eat bamboo. I enjoy having that balance between being social and having time for myself.

To provide the students with enjoyable and meaningful social experiences

Emma Mills

What drew you to a career in pharmacy?
It’s flexibility and the endless doors it opens. As a chronically indecisive person, I knew I needed to pursue a degree that offered multiple career paths so that I could feel them out and not feel stuck if something didn’t work for me!
What animal represents you and why?
A bit cliche but a cat! I am a total homebody and love to nap. But as soon as the sun sets watch out! Because those are weird girl hours.
Trevor Chan
VP Communications · communications@ubcphus.org
What is your goal?
My goal this year is to improve clarity between the student body and PhUS by making communication between both bodies more accessible and available.
What drew you to a career in pharmacy?
Honestly, I decided to apply to the program on a whim! However, I quickly realized that this is a field that I would be ecstatic to be a part of. I truly enjoy how pharmacy has a comfortable mix of clinical, social, and collaborative experiences embedded within its plethora of career paths. I have always believed in helping others and being of service to others for as long as we are capable of doing so, and find that a career in pharmacy allows me to achieve this notion of mine.
What animal represents you and why?
An otter! They’re playful, caring, and very considerate and close to their family and loved ones (they hold hands while sleeping so they don’t drift apart!)

I would love to get more involved with opportunities in hospital pharmacy, as I’m very interested in exploring this career path and pursuing a residency after graduation.
What drew you to a career in pharmacy?
I did my undergrad in biochem, and I knew I wanted to apply my interests in basic science (pharmacology) to working with people in a healthcare profession! Also, my dad is a hospital pharmacist, and he’s a big role model for me!
What animal represents you and why?
Probably a squirrel or a chipmunk because I’m super extroverted and energetic, but I’m also very organized and plan ahead just like how these animals store their food for the winter.
