VP Finance Candidates

Alexis Jang

Hello everyone!

My name is Alexis and I’m excited to be running for your VP Finance!

As VP Finance, I will make sure that our budget is used effectively to minimize unnecessary spending and maximize opportunities. Each PhUS event will receive proper funding to ensure good quality events, and I plan to make them happen by effective cost allocation. Additionally, I plan to financially prepare PhUS for a lounge rejuvenation to produce a more welcoming environment where students can hang out, grab snacks, and chat.

I prioritize student opinions because our voices matter. Whether you are planning or attending an event, our budget will be in good hands that allow PhUS to work creatively and successfully. If you plan an event, I’ll make sure that you don’t have to worry about late reimbursements so that you CAN buy that poke bowl you were craving last week!

But that’s not all! As someone with years of outreach experience, I can assure you that our relationships with our various sponsors will continue to grow. With my swift email replies, I will make sure that we can quickly secure the proper supplies for PhUS to provide you with the best student experience possible!

I want to integrate your ideas for the 2026-2027 budget, so let’s help PhUS have a successful financial year together! Vote Alexis for VP Finance 🙂

Keegan Koning

Hi everyone, My name is Keegan (he/him/his), and I’m running for VP Finance because I genuinely love this stuff and because I care about how every PhUS dollar impacts students.

Right now, I serve as VP Finance for Queers, Trans and Allies in Pharmacy Club (QTiP+) and Treasurer for the Psychiatry and Substance Use Club (PSU). In both roles, I’ve managed budgets, processed reimbursements, tracked expenses carefully, and applied for funding to ensure our clubs are using their resources effectively and responsibly. I take pride in keeping finances organised, transparent, and sustainable so that executives can focus on running strong events without worrying about the numbers. I’ve also taken multiple university-level accounting courses and have extensive bookkeeping and investing experience outside of school — so spreadsheets are genuinely my comfort zone. If elected, my priorities are simple:

  • Keep PhUS fees as low as possible while maintaining strong programming
  • Maximise funding available to PhUS and its clubs — especially through collaboration with AMS
  • Ensure fiscal responsibility so we avoid operating at a deficit
  • Improve transparency so students understand where their money goes

I believe good financial management isn’t about restricting ideas, it’s about enabling them. When budgets are clear and funding streams are optimised, clubs can plan bigger events, invite stronger speakers, and create more meaningful student experiences at UBC PharmSci!

PhUS exists to support students. As VP Finance, I’ll work to make sure our finances reflect that — strategic, sustainable, and student-focused. I’d be honoured to earn your vote.

Logan van de Wetering

Hey everyone! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Logan Speed van de Wetering (yes, that’s my legal middle name), and I am super excited to run to be your VP Finance for 2026-2027! You may have seen me around the Pharm building, studying late and probably annoying the janitors by camping out in room 3208. I’ve always been ready to help out my fellow PY1s on the MANY assessments we all know and love/tolerate, so I’m looking forward to helping the student body out in a more official capacity.

As VP Finance, my goal will be to make sure every single dollar of student fees you pay gets you the maximum return of fun and opportunity! That means better socials, better networking events, better backpacks, and a balanced budget that fits in as much for all of you as it possibly can. Plus, you can be sure that all money matters will be handled speedily, efficiently, and effectively. No nonsense, no delays.

With a good head for numbers and a spreadsheet addiction developed over years of managing data in my previous degree, you can be confident that I will keep things running smoothly and make sure you get the most out of your undergraduate society. I’m grateful for your support and look forward to working with you all next year!
