I’ve learned pretty quickly that starting pharmacy school is a lot easier when you know you’re not the only one figuring it out.
That’s why I’m running to be the PY1 Phus Representative. I want to help make our first year feel more connected, supportive and enjoyable for everyone. We’re all adjusting to a new environment, learning an impressive amount of material, and discovering that “I’ll review that later” is not always a reliable study strategy.
As your representative, I would listen to our class and communicate ideas, concerns, and feedback clearly to PhUS. I would advocate for our cohort on academic, social, and student life matters while helping ensure everyone feels included. I want to support participation in opportunities that already exist by sharing information, encouraging involvement, and checking in to see what our class actually wants.
I would love to help create a stronger sense of community through low-pressure ways to connect and support one another, whether that means study sessions, casual check-ins, or simply making sure no one feels like they’re navigating pharmacy school alone. After all, we may be sharing a timetable, but we don’t have to share the stress.
My previous leadership experiences have taught me how important it is to listen to different perspectives, communicate clearly, and make people feel included. I’d like to bring those skills with me into PY1. I would be grateful for the opportunity to represent PY1 and help make our first year positive, memorable, and slightly less overwhelming.
