Hi PY1s!! My name is Dorsa Hamidi and I’m running to be one of your PY1 Year Reps!!
Fun fact: before most of us even knew what each other looked like, I somehow ended up making the Instagram group chat when acceptances started coming out. Watching it go from a bunch of strangers asking, “has anyone else accepted their offer??” to all of us actually being here together has been pretty surreal, and it’s one of the reasons I wanted to run for year rep in the first place.
We’re going to be seeing A LOT of each other over the next four years (whether we like it or not), and I want our first year to be something we remember for more than exams, Anki, and wondering why there is always something due. I’d love to give us more excuses to hang out outside of class and have things to look forward to when school inevitably starts school-ing.
If elected, I’ll stay active on the platforms we already use, especially our Instagram group chat, to keep everyone in the loop and make sure everyone has a chance to get involved.
I can’t promise to magically make PY1 stress-free because unfortunately I don’t have that kind of authority. BUT I can promise to be someone you can easily reach out to whether it’s about a concern, an idea, or something you think could make our year a little better.
I’d love the chance to represent you all this year and make PY1 a little more fun between all the lectures, labs, and inevitable academic jump scares.
