If you ask me almost any icebreaker question, there’s a concerningly high chance my answer will be Pitbull, so I feel like that tells you at least 30% of what you need to know about me. For the remaining 70%: Hi! I’m Areesha, and I’m running to be one of your PY1 Year Reps!
I’m a longtime Residence Advisor, former student representative, chronic over-committer, and someone who genuinely loves getting involved. I’ve spent years advocating, navigating concerns, organizing initiatives, and being the person people come to when they don’t know who else to ask. Somewhere along the way, I learned that I really enjoy being that person.
That’s why I’m running.
I can’t promise to make our weekly exams disappear or convince faculty that weekly exams are a human rights violation. What I can promise is to pay attention. I’ll ask questions, bring forward what our class is actually talking about, follow up when something isn’t working, and make sure you know what came out of those conversations. I also want to help make our class feel like our class and not just 224 people who panic about the same exam every week.
We have four years together, and I’d love to spend the first making things a little easier, more connected, and significantly more fun.
