Hello! For those of you who haven’t met me yet, my name is Maddison Gahagan. I’m currently a PY2 student originally from Niagara Falls, Ontario. Throughout my time in the PharmD program, I have witnessed some of the amazing advocacy work done by PhUS on behalf of the pharmacy profession and hope to also become an advocate for all of you! I realize now more than ever, there is a need for pharmacy students and pharmacists to have a voice and be recognized for the important work they do and the unique skills they bring to the healthcare team. I also think it is important for us all to have a voice with respect to our final years in the program, as we embark on our new careers for the first time. I have lots of event planning experience through my two years as a President for the Best Buddies Chapter at Queen’s University. As well, I have event planning and logistics experience through my time as both a Fundraising and Events Coordinator for Friends of MSF at Queen’s. In my current role of Student Coordinator for CSHP-BC, I have realized how important a student liaison is and the importance of listening to student experiences and values and incorporating these into the events and opportunities offered to the student body. I hope to use this position to advocate on behalf of all of you and ensure your needs and interests are reflected through PhUS’ many initiatives!
